You can fly, little guy.

You ever do that thing as a kid — sitting through an exam, or stuck in class doing something you didn't want to be doing — where you catch sight of a bird sitting outside the window? And you think to yourself: you can fly, little guy. Get out of here. You can go anywhere.

I suppose my love for travel stems from that simple feeling. Of going. Of flying away and seeing the world.

Not to be pessimistic — but we're on this spinning blue globe for a short time, and there is just so much to see.

Why I started PONTUS

I started PONTUS to be a place that brings like-minded people together. People sharing their love for travel — describing their opinions and their experiences in their own words, so that someone else might read them and feel enticed to go and see those places, and do those things, for themselves. That's the heart of it.

A little about me. I work a corporate job. It is not the most exhilarating thing in the world — which is probably a large part of why I travel as much as I can. Cooped up at a desk for so long, the moment I finally get the chance to go somewhere new, I jump at it.

There is something else I realised writing my own PONTUS articles. The process itself — writing it out, going back through the photographs — is a genuinely wonderful thing, because it makes you revisit the memories. Choosing the pictures, putting the words down, I remembered so many small, peculiar details from those trips that I had half-forgotten. I would recommend trying it, whether it ends up here or not.
